At last we are bringing you up to date with all the info, and happenings since the end of 2011, from then until today, 20th Feb 2012. How did that time go so fast!
Gigs: We finished the end of 2011 with gigs at Soho, at the top of State Street, and the amazing Whiskey Richards, at the bottom of State Street, two gigs on the same night. We also played at Creekside the following Sunday, finishing off a whole day of good music from local bands.
A Holiday Break: Blue Suns people all travelled far and wide over the Christmas break, but with a special surprise happening back in Santa Barbara – The SB Independent’s senior editor Matt Kettmann voted Blue Suns the ‘Best Supergroup of SB High Schoolers!’ That was the best Christmas present. Thank you Mr. Kettman, best wishes from Carly, Sam, and Harry.
New Songs: Early January saw a lot of new writing from the band, with three new songs finished and named: Wishes, Setting Sail, and Over The Wall Tonight. A previous song was finally named too – Bombastic Nocturne.
These four have very much enriched our set. Look out for them at any new gig. We are very proud of them.
Gigs in 2012 so far: Blue Suns hit the ground running in January with a coffee shop gig at The Valley Grind in Santa Ynez. Thank you Chelsea, it was a great way to spend a sunny afternoon. Then a comfy Friday evening at Cold Spring Tavern, you guys always make us feel so welcome, and so at home. Then we got all geared up to play the Velvet Jones, at the end of January. It was fantastic returning to this stage after our first performance there during the New Noise Battle of the Bands 2011. This gig was soon followed by an appearance at Muddy Waters another of Santa Barbara’s famed live music venues. These music club venues were off set by a lunchtime performance at the ‘Greek’ helping to liven up a school day. And finally, last Thursday, Johnny’s Bar and Grill in Lompoc, again treated us so well. They are a music lovin crowd of people there. Their shouting, jumping, and dancing enthusiasm took the Blue Suns performance to a new level. Thank you Johnny’s your crowd was amazing.
